Tubing

Everyone enjoyed today's tubing trip on the Shenandoah River. Except for the part of leaving at 8am and getting home at 8pm. And lots of sunburn due to a faulty spray can of Banana Boat sunblock.

There were only two near-death experiences. The first was Pete spying a rope swing on the far shore, which of course means he will yell out "Rope Swing" and swim towards it without his life jacket. Soon after, Mom and Dad came to the realization that there was no way to swim back and get him against the current. So they just hoped he could swim back to the group (which he did, after about 15 minutes of waiting).

The closer to death experience was the guy flooring it on the school bus ride back from the river to the rental cabin. Driving to dinner (Frost Station Diner in Luray, VA), Dad and Sam has the following conversation:

Dad: Did anyone else notice that the bus driver was going about double the safe speed?

Sam: Yeah. I was thinking to myself on that bus, if he crashes and kills us all, I am going to murder him in heaven.

There are a number of philosophical questions about that statement. But at least you have to admit that Sam's always thinking ahead.
