Sam is developing some subtleties in his negotiations. This comes as no surprise, given all of the time he spends around Pete.

The other day there was this exchange at the pool:

Sam: Can I go in the baby pool?
Mom: Ok, but don't play with the hose.
Sam: Can I work with the hose?
