Tonight
at dinner, Pete tried his first New York Times crossword puzzle – which he
quickly completed without any difficulty. Also, Dad introduced everyone to a
game that they played at his recent crossword tournament. Everyone starts on a
certain word, and then has to find a series of words after that which match
certain categories, and come after the previous word in the dictionary. The
winner is the person who ends up with a word as close as possible in
alphabetical order to the original word. Once you figure out how to play, which
took a while, it is a fun game. After that, Sam shared with Dad some of the
boneheaded moves that people made earlier that day in Chess Camp.
